By Kate

Happy Carnival everyone!

To get you in the mood, I thought you’d enjoy a sneak preview from our Experiential Marketing Strategy team .

With our partners Nestlé, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation and Blu Sky Studio (Ice Age film creators), we’ve created a truly international augmented cereal box experience.

Check out these statistics to see just how global:

  • 53 Countries
  • 29 Languages
  • 26 MILLION Boxes!!

So unlike other experiential marketing projects I’ve blogged about, this is the first that’s soooo widespread.

Here’s a look at 30-seconds video about the Rio experience:

If you live in Asia, Latin American, Europe or Eastern Europe, chances are you’ll be able to buy a box of Nestlé at your local grocery store and play with “Rio” film characters Blu and Jewel.

Here’s a Rio trailer to help you get to know Blu and Jewel better:

And if you don’t live in one of the participating countries, stay tuned to 3D Perspectives.  I may be able to get my hand on some cereal boxes to give away.  ;-)

CATIA Packaging Design Demo Reel

By Caroline

Hi everyone,

Following my blogpost featuring Dymola libraries in action within CATIA V6, I decided to feature what I consider one of CATIA’s sexiest domains: Shape.   I chatted with Pierre Maheut, one of our Shape specialists.  He was of a great help to help me understand the technical parts of this video better.

The chosen video is: CATIA Packaging Design Demo Reel

This video is in fact a demo teaser for CATIA’s industrial design software, and the whole purpose is to show in 3 minutes the process a designer goes through in the designing packaging.  The video covers the various steps the designers use to create, for example, a perfume bottle.  Imagine, create, share and experience. The video also shows the importance of communities and crowed sourcing in the interactive creation process.

Pierre breaks down the video into four parts:

  • Imagine: Integration of 2D Sketches in 3D environment
  • Create: Easily and quickly materialize an idea into 3D.
  • Share: Instant collaboration with Engineering
  • Experience: Choice of colors & materials with high quality real time visualization.

To wrap up our chat, I asked Pierre to tell me what he likes about this video.  He answered that he likes the fact that this video shows CATIA in another perspective.  We are perhaps not yet well known in Consumer Packaged Goods, especially amongst industrial designers.  Last but not least, he likes how CATIA is both powerful and a fun to use design tool.

That’s all folks!

An Italian’s Take on French VR Cereal Gameplay

By Kate

The following blogpost is by Matteo Mannuci, one of the lucky not-in-France recipients of a VR Chocapic cereal box.  Matteo is a practicing architect in Florence, Italy.  I’ve translated his French post to English, and the artwork and photos are his.  Molte grazie, Matteo!

10 p.m.:  Tonight I spent time with one of my best friends and adventure buddies, Luca Aluffi, who also wore his own famous 3D glasses, sent to us by Kate!

Once we cut out and assembled our glasses, we threw ourselves into the game.  My super MacBook Pro had a problem with the plug-in, but with a bit of patience everything worked fine on Windows.  Luca’s little computer beat my powerful MacBook.

The game was excellent!!!! Blam, zam, bling!  The game is so well made and fun, it hypnotized us.  We laughed like children; while the game is very fun to play, it’s also fun to watch Luca playing . . .  Ah! Ah! Ah !

We tried all the levels, and I like the second one the best!!  Thanks again Kate.  We’re ready for the next 3D adventure!

–Matteo

P.S.  Next time will you send us the cereal inside the box too ?  Ah! Ah! Ah ! :p
