Do YOU have a World-Changing Dream?

By Aurelien

IF WESo this is a call to all day-dreamers out there  :D

“IF WE could harvest just one iceberg, we could provide half a million people with fresh water for a year.” Georges Mougin dreamed of harvesting icebergs to help address the water scarcity challenge, and with the power of 3DEXPERIENCE, he was able to prove that his dream could become real.

Well it is an ambitious plan to bring an iceberg to the people but realistically what kind of effort; including fuels, materials would be required and what resultant mass of frozen water would be obtained? There is no hint about this in the video that I looked at. Wouldn’t solar-desalinization plants be a better way? Just suppose that the equatorial countries started to produce these solar-desalinization plants and pipelines were constructed to distribute it. Wouldn’t that be a great way to use lands that are not suitable for human or beast to be used? Plus even frozen water must be treated because of the possibilities of disease bacteria that could be in a suspended animation until thawed out. This methode of provideing water produce a new plague released upon the world that we do not yet have any defense for. Just trying to think of some possibilites here. It is a brave bold move and I like that.

Hi Corporal Willy, thanks for the great comment! If you’re interested in the Ice Dream project, there’s actually a full 60-minute documentary and a FAQ to address these questions :) Solar-desalinization plants, why not? Now to ensure if solar-desalinization plants are a valid option, you would need to know how much energy would be needed, what would be the environmental impacts, and for which result… all kind of things that can be virtualized and simulated with software! This is exactly what has been done to simulate and validated George Mougin’s theory of towing icebergs. I guess you got the point, it is all about asking the right questions! Stay tuned for the contest opening very soon! :)

My Dream so to speak would be to create powerful crowdfunding tools leveraging facebook and other media outlets to create funding for projects that help society. Such as play areas, and education and help programs for children. Organized by the country in need and linked to their companies in the country that could fund and thus receive tax breaks if necessary venture capital to solve real problems in society, and for reseearch and cultural grants.

The next big thing to happen in this world according to me would in the solar energy. Yes I know still there is a long way to go in the efficiency (capture, convert and distribute solar energy) and the huge investment in terms of land and photovoltaics needed for solar energy.

In just one hour’s time, the amount of energy that the sun shines upon the earth’s surface
exceeds the energy consumption of all of mankind in an entire year.

Imagine how the environment would be clean for the future generations to come…..
All countries could invest in R&D of solar energy and this could be great…
Imagine your car running with solar energy…would’nt that be great…

Hi Matt, thanks for the comment, feel free to share your own dream in our contest at http://www.3ds.com/if-we/contest or the widget on this blog just to the right :)

Hi Sundaram, I agree solar energy is a vast field of possibilities. As far as solar-powered cars, I could see two options (but they may be more!): there are cars that directly rely on solar energy to run, such as this solar race car, yet those need a huge solar panel surface and need to be very lightweight. Alternatively, a more workable option are cars used as electricity storage, e.g. solar panels on your house roof charge your electric car at night. Why wouldn’t you share your own solar-powered car dream in our contest? Jump in the contest at http://www.3ds.com/if-we/contest or directly in the widget to the right on this very blog :)

replace fuel power with magnetic power… the entire law of physics saying you can’t create energy out of nothing will be changed… limitless power could be obtained and contained as well as distributed all using the power of magnets… having magnets generate the energy by propelling themselves using their own force, containing electrons using the force of gravity, and distributing the power at higher speeds using magnetically charged wiring. It could possibly create more energy with no cost and even make space travel so much more simple… thousands of magnets spinning at unseen speeds could generate enough power to launch anything to escape volocity

rotating magnets could generate more power than wind and solar energy if they’re strong enough and fast enough, not to mention the fact that they require no fuel and could use the energy they produce to speed up even more thus creating more power… this power source could possibly rival and even surpass rocket fuel and allow smaller, faster, more efficient vehicles for space exploration. There are several inventions that come to mind that I plan on creating someday based on this power source
