Made in 3D, The 3D Printing Challenge
By VictorienDoes 3D Printing ring a bell? I bet it does, seeing how it is now considered as the next holy grail of innovative manufacturing. Imagine being able to manufacture pretty much any challenging shape, any prototype, any design in a few hours. Sounds exciting, right?
Take for example the above image, a strange organic design called “The Mush” (for obvious reasons). The design naturally amplifies and changes the sound coming from your iPhone. Created by a French designer using CATIA design software, it has recently been printed in 3D as a prototype and the result is astounding.
Do you want to try your designers’ skills? Announced last Friday at the Cumulus Conference “Crossing Talents” in France (gathering 170 design, architecture and art colleges from all around the world), the “Made in 3D Challenge” invites designers to submit their best 3D models. The challenge is open to all designers, as well as any members with a free 3DVIA account.
The best model will win an iPad2 as well as a 3D print of the winning model, bringing the concept to reality. The winner will also be featured with his/her design in TL Magazine, a quarterly magazine dedicated to innovative talent, materials and trends in the field of design, fashion, retail and urban environments. A good way to become famous, fast!
What are you waiting for? Come and test your ideas against the best 3D creatives of our community for a chance at fame and fortune! Just keep in mind the object scale as you will be printing in a maximum of 15cm x 15cm x 15cm volume.
Any standard 3D file format is accepted. Just upload your 3D file on a free 3DVIA account before September 18th and tag it “madein3d”. Details are available here.
Are you the next Champion?
Best,
Victorien
