When we welcomed Michel Desjoyeaux and his team in the Passion for Innovation Program, we had two challenges. The first one was to help Michel to design a new 60 feet monohull for La Route du Rhum-La Banque Postale and the Barcelona World Race in record time. Michel’s team succeeded with the help of our solutions and our experts.

The second one was to produce a 3D experience because Michel was willing to share his life on board with the general public. We produced a 3D visit of the virtual boat and a serious game with an online contest. You can read more about it here.

The time had come for our two winners, Quentin and Thomas, to get on board with Michel Desjoyeaux and his crew. After the virtual experience, they had to taste “the real thing”, and the Dassault Systèmes project team as well.

We enjoyed perfect conditions, with a sunny weather and just enough wind to get fantastic sensations on Michel’s new MOD 70 multi-hull. We also had a chance to sail on the new MACIF monohull, a sister-ship of the FONCIA IMOCA boat and compare the virtual boat we made to reality. Although we found them pretty close,  nothing can replace the wind in the sails and the thrilling sensation of speed when those sea-Formula 1 accelerate!

We already talked about it: we love pyramids! And actually we love them so much we thought you’d like to experience them as well… in 3D (and even on your 3D TV!). So Dassault Systèmes developed an application to truly go back in time and visit old Egypt.

Still skeptical? Let me tell you, you’ve never seen a lecture this fascinating: the topic’s hot, the technology to showcase it kicks ass and whenever you have a question, just stop and hang around to explore the pyramid and get your questions answered! And to quote our friends from the BBC:

First part is called “the two enigmas of the Great Pyramid” and talks about how the pyramid was built, especially regarding other pyramids. So if you want to have an overview of what’s so mysterious about Khufu’s pyramid, I’d recommend you take a look at this part.

Second part is about “the genius of the builders”. Basically, if you want to learn about the architectural side of the pyramid construction, head there! Plus, it’s divided in three parts so you can understand the whole construction process (it’s my favorite part!).

Third part is named “seventy days to be reborn” and explains the whole process behind Khufu’s preparation before being put inside the pyramid. You’d like to see the rituals? That’s over here!

Fourth part is called “the paths to eternity” and gives you Jean Pierre Houdin’s point of view about the King’s chamber and its construction secret! (My second favorite part… The architects back then were truly geniuses!)

The final part “simply” allows you to travel completely freely around the pyramid and its construction site.

I’d like to introduce you to a new 3D augmented reality cereal box experience!

After our Rio 3D augmented reality game, the Experiential Marketing Strategy team, in collaboration with Nestlé and Dreamworks, developed another fun game based on the Kung Fu Panda 2 movie.

You know Po, the humble panda? He is back and this time he’s also on cereal boxes: lead him and his gang, the Furious Five, through this 3D video game… with a hand card only!?

The goal of this interactive game is to create the longest chain with Po and his friends and catch as fast as possible the traditional Chinese food bowls holding on the lanterns. But watch out the firecrackers and the cannon balls that can break the chain!

Now let me share with you some interesting figures:

• It’s the fourth 3D augmented reality experience developed in collaboration with Nestlé thanks to 3DVIA technologies (Chocapic, Arthur Course and Rio).
• It’s the second one so global: it will be available on 33 million boxes in more than 50 countries… huge!!!
